About
Matt Flaherty is an award winning Advertising Executive Producer. Based in New York for 20 years, he has held Executive Producer positions at Translation and TBWA/Chiat/Day NY and Senior Producer positions at Anomaly and Grey NY. Most recently he has been a Contract Video Producer at Pro Unlimited @ Apple for two and a half years. He creates content for Broadcast, Branded Films and Social Media.
During the 2020 Pandemic, Flaherty lead the Production Department at Translation through the Lockdown. He strategized the new Work-From-Home workflow and implemented Covid production procedures and protocols, while also producing a considerable amount of wok. Most notably the 2 minute film for Beats By Dre, “You Love Me,” which won top honors at all of the International Award Shows. Flaherty’s production leadership and efforts through that transitional year helped Translation rise to the #5 Independent Agency, Globally, and #2 in the US.
Flaherty's work has been awarded 9 Cannes Lions including the Titanium, an Emmy and a second Emmy Nomination, 8 D&AD Pencils, a LIA, a Grand Clio plus multiple Clios, Sports Clios, Effies and Webbys. He specializes in Storytelling, Visual Effects, Sports, and Comedy. Flaherty has run productions extensively in North America, Europe and South America, and enjoyed a one-off in New Zealand and Australia. Brands he has proudly produced for include: Apple, Beats by Dre, Dick's Sporting Goods, NFL, YouTube TV, Duracell, Converse, MLB, DirecTV, Budweiser, Beats By Dre, Kaiser Permanente, Nissan, NBA, JBL, Diageo Brands: Ketel One, Johnnie Walker, Captain Morgan, Tanqueray, as well as Frontier Airlines, Febreze and One Love Org.
Matt Flaherty began his production career in 2002 as a Production Assistant in Los Angeles. He was thrown from a bull on his very first shoot. That suited him just fine.
Flaherty has an MFA in Creative Writing, a BA in English Literature, and an ever growing guitar collection. Skiing, surfing and triathlons fill the rest of his time, when he’s not coaching his daughters’ Soccer and Softball teams.
